India's big sale calendar: when prices actually drop
Amazon's Great Indian Festival, Flipkart's Big Billion Days, and the quieter sales in between — when to wait and when to buy.

Timing matters more than coupon hunting for big-ticket purchases. Here's the calendar that matters:
The big two
- September–October: Great Indian Festival (Amazon) and Big Billion Days (Flipkart) — the deepest discounts of the year on electronics
- January: Republic Day sales — second-best window, especially for TVs and appliances
The quiet windows
- March end: financial-year-end clearances from offline-heavy brands
- July–August: monsoon sales, good for fashion and home
The rule of thumb
If a launch is less than 3 months old, wait. If a sale event is less than 6 weeks away, wait. Otherwise, a good price today beats a hypothetical price tomorrow.
